ARNA Is Eisai a Competent Drug Marketing Partner? 6/22/15

With the lackluster sales of Belviq as marketed by Eisai, I wondered what is the history of Eisai in the world of drug marketing.  As it turns out, historically Eisai has been dependent of Pfizer, J&J for its success in the US market as quoted:
"A decade ago when Aricept was launched, Eisai needed the marketing muscle of Pfizer , the world’s biggest drugmaker, to persuade gerontologists and psychiatrists to prescribe the drug. “From a marketing viewpoint it looks like Pfizer’s drug.
Another big Eisai seller in the lucrative U.S. market is Aciphex, used to treat acid-reflux disease and marketed by Johnson & Johnson . Worldwide the two treatments accounted for 54% of the Japanese company’s $5 billion in revenue for the year ending March 2006" taken from [ http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2007/0423/106.html]

Bottomline, I cannot find a story for the marketing prowess of Eisai. Too bad for Arena's Belviq.
